Галиця Ніжинського повіту Чернігівської губернії. Закінчив Ніжинське комерційне училище, Миколаївське інженерне училище (14 травня 1915), вийшов прапорщиком у розпорядження штабу XI російської армії.З 28 травня 1915 р. служив у 1-й роті 22-го саперного батальйону. Під час Першої світової війни дістав всі бойові нагороди до ордена Святого Володимира IV ступеня з мечами та биндою, орден Святого Георгія IV ступеня — за бій 28 травня-2 червня 1916 р. під с. Гайворонка. Штабс-капітан з 17 вересня 1917 р.З 9 лютого 1918 р. — командир сотні ім. І. Мазепи 2-го Запорізького куреня військ Центральної Ради. З початку березня 1918 р. — командир 2-го куреня 2-го Запорізького полку Армії УНР, згодом — Армії Української Держави. З 17 листопада 1918 р, після протигетьманського повстання, — комендант Харкова. З грудня 1918 р — командир 2-го Запорізького, а потім — 2-го Мазепинського полку 1-ї Республіканської дивізії Дієвої армії УНР. З 13 квітня 1919 р. — командувач Запорізького корпусу Дієвої армії УНР. 16 квітня 1919 повів залишки запорожців через Румунію на з"єднання з основними частинами Армії УНР. З кінця травня 1919 р. — командир 20-го Запорізького пішого ім. І. Мазепи полку Дієвої армії УНР. Учасник Першого Зимового походу: командир збірної бригади Запорізької дивізії, що складалася з піших полків Запорізького корпусу. У 1921–1922 рр — командир 1-ї Запорізької бригади 1-ї Запорізької стрілецької дивізії Армії УНР.З 1923 р. жив на еміграції у Франції. У 1932–1938 рр. очолював у Франції «Товариство Запорожців ім. П. Болбочана» та Союз лицарів Залізного Хреста. Помер на еміграції 27 грудня 1956 р.-------------------------------------Ivan DubovyiThe closest comrade of Petro Bolbochan. Hero of the Winter Campaign.He was born in Halytsia, Chernigov Governorate. He graduated from the Nizhyn Commercial College and from the Mykolaiv Engineering College (May 14, 1915). Dubovyi was a praporshchik of the 11th Russian Army.He served in the 1st company of the 22nd sapper battalion. Dubovyi was awarded with all orders of the Empire up to the Order of Saint Vladimir of the 4th Class with Swords and riband, the Order of Saint George of the 4th Class for the battle of Haivoronka, May 28 - June 2, 1916. He was promoted to Stabs-kapitan September 17, 1917.February 9, 1918 – commander of the hundred of Ivan Mazepa of the 2nd Zaporozhian kurin of the Army of the Central Council of Ukraine. March 1918 – commander of the 2nd kurin of the 2nd Zaporozhian regiment of the UNR’s Army. After the uprising against Hetman, he became a Military Commandant of Kharkiv, November 17, 1918. December 1918 – commander of the 2nd Zaporozhian, later of the the 2nd Mazepynskyi regiment of the 1st Republican division of the UNR’s Army. April 13, 1919 – сommander of the Zaporozhian corps of the UNR’s Army.April 16, 1919 – he led the remnants of the Zaporozhians via Romania to unite with the main units of the UNR’s Army. End of May 1919 – commander of the 20th Zaporozhian infantry regiment of Ivan Mazepa of the UNR’s Army. Participant of the First Winter Campaign: commander the brigade of the Zaporozhian division, which included infantry regiments of the Zaporozhian corps. 1921-1922 – commander of the 1st Zaporozhian brigade of the 1st Zaporozhian riflemen division of the UNR’s Army.Dubovyi emigrated to France in 1923. In 1932-1938 he ran the “Petro Bolbochan Society of Zaporozhians” and the Union of Knights of the Iron Cross in France.
