Vandals went on a spray-painting spree at the homes of Congress’ top two leaders in separate graffiti blitzes that appeared to target Capitol Hill’s failure to send out fatter stimulus checks.

 

The Louisville, Kentucky, home of GOP Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and San Francisco residence of Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi were both splatted with angry messaging — and at Pelosi’s home, a severed pig’s head, according to reports.

 

On Saturday morning, a misspelled “where’s my money” and expletives were splashed across the front door and bricks of McConnell’s residence, the Courier-Journal reported.

McConnell condemned the defacement as a “radical tantrum.”

 

“I’ve spent my career fighting for the First Amendment and defending peaceful protest. I appreciate every Kentuckian who has engaged in the democratic process whether they agree with me or not,” McConnell said .

 

This is different. Vandalism and the politics of fear have no place in our society,” he said, adding he has “never been been intimidated by this toxic playbook. We just hope our neighbors in Louisville aren’t too inconvenienced by this radical tantrum.”

1. Haters

Examples: Richard Spencer, Stephen Miller, Sean Hannity

We’ll start with the obvious. Racists. Nazis. Xenophobes. We’ll throw homophobes and transphobes in there, too. They’ll all try to rationalize their hate, but it’s easy to translate what they’re actually saying: “I don’t want my daughter peeing next to a man” is asshole speak for “I don’t understand and don’t care to try to understand the complexities of gender identity and would rather stay ignorant to it,” while “Stand for the Anthem!” is asshole speak for “I don’t like it when black people are ungrateful and don’t just do what they’re told.”

For shit’s sake, Steve Bannon was a member of this administration at one point. If you can throw a white supremacist rally and have your President blame both sides, then he might just be the guy for you.

2. Proud Deniers

Examples: Your Uncle Craig, John Kelly, probably Ivanka Trump

They know deep down something is wrong with Trump, but won’t admit it for fear of being told “I told you so.” These deniers aren’t bad people. They’re just letting their pride get in the way of reason. It’s akin to sitting on the toilet shitting your brains out while still telling yourself that gas station pizza burrito was a good idea.

3. Ignorant Dads

Examples: My dad, your dad

If you’re like me, you have a dad who is ill-informed and says stupid shit just to piss your mom off. (Also, if you’re like me, you have a dad who didn’t go to your baseball games as a kid.)

4. Fans Of The Apprentice

Example: Eric Trump

Let’s face facts: Some people just really liked NBC’s The Apprentice and The Celebrity Apprentice. They saw Donald J. Trump for what he originally was: a cartoon villain with a funny catchphrase. “You’re fired!” LOL, CLASSIC!

While Trump’s appeal wore thin for many people, some fans were never able to separate Trump the celebrity from Trump the politician.

5. “Well, At Least He’s A Republican”

Examples: Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell, Mike Pence, Aunt Bernadine

These are the people the ghost of George Washington hates. He warned against the two-party system for a reason. When everything is political and elections turn into pissing contests to see which party citizens hate less, that’s how you end up with someone like Donald Trump. Some Republicans despise the president, but only see him as a way to push their party’s platform. That’s pretty fucking evil.

6. Child Molesters

Examples: Roy Moore, maybe that neighbor whose house my parents made me skip on Halloween

Now is a great time to be a child molester, big thanks to Donald J. Trump. You might even win a Senate seat in Alabama.

7. Slogan Suckers

Example: Most people on Facebook

These people aren’t the brightest, but they’re definitely the loudest. They’re the people who heard “Make America Great Again” and “America First” and fucking loved it. They cling to those slogans to this day, and, if you engage in a debate with them over their leader, odds are you will hear one or both of those phrases. #MAGA

8. Establishment Russians

This goes without saying. Whether just a fake Twitter account or Vlad Putin himself, these Russians love Trump.

9. Frat D-Bags

Example: That one kid I met at a bar last year who high-fived a guy wearing a MAGA hat

For some reason, Donald Trump had a tremendous effect on douchebags in fraternities. It’s possible this is because it was their first election voting and Donald Trump’s charisma sucked them in. Or maybe they liked how Trump bragged about grabbing women by the pussy. Or maybe it was just that really cool red hat. Frat douchebags love hats.

Either way, I know a lot of frat d-bags, and they’re all ardent Trump supporters. (Now, whether they actually voted is another story. I doubt they were able to wake up, sober up, remove their brothers’ fists, and make it to a polling location in time.)

10. ISIS

Example: Abu Nazir (okay, this is the bad guy from Homeland. I actually don’t know any terrorists)

Sadly, this is true. The more Trump antagonizes the Muslim community by spewing hateful, xenophobic rhetoric, the more recruitment material terrorist organizations like ISIS have. They probably have a Trump mural at ISIS headquarters in appreciation for all his help.

11. Sexists

Example: Men

If you genuinely hate women and think they belong nowhere near a position of power, look no further than Donald Trump as your fearless leader. His past history of degrading women was a big plus for this group of supporters. Also, did you hear this guy grabs women by the pussy? #TrumpTrain

12. Gun People

Example: Wayne LaPierre and the NRA

These are the people who convinced Americans that Obama wanted to take their guns. There was a mass shooting not too long ago and Trump already forgot about it. With every mass shooting — and with every “thoughts and prayers” tweet from Trump — the NRA and gun manufacturers grow more powerful.

13. Selfish People

Example: Your boss who seems like a good dude but just doesn’t look at things from a broader perspective, Paul Ryan (again)

You might be a Trump supporter reading this and thinking to yourself, “Hey, I don’t fit into any of these categories.” First, look back and read again. Are you sure you’re not racist? Are you my dad? Well, if you don’t fit into any of the above groups, then this group is for you.

You’re just plain selfish. You voted for Trump because his policies would benefit you (or, rather, you thought his policies would benefit you). Maybe you’re rich and want a tax cut. Maybe you’re a coal miner clinging to a dying field of work. Maybe, if Dreamers aren’t deported, it’ll negatively affect your job outlook. Maybe you’re a big oil executive and eco-friendly regulations are ruining your profits. Whatever your reasons, you support Trump because he helps you, even if that means he is hurting millions of others.

And that’s fine. It is your American right to support who you want for your own selfish reasons. It’s okay to be selfish. I don’t hold the door open for people if I’m in a rush. I guess that’s kind of the same as voting for someone who will help me and a small percentage of people, right?

However, when you look at some of Trump’s supporters— racists, Nazis, sexists, child molesters, ISIS — and don’t vehemently speak out against them, don’t be mad when onlookers think Trump supporters are all the same.

Former Rep. Paul Ryan, a Republican and the former speaker of the US House of Representatives, on Sunday spoke out against members of his own party who have hatched a plan to object to the certification of the Electoral College's December vote that re-affirmed Trump's November loss.

 

"All our basic rights and freedoms flow from a fidelity to the Constitution and the rule of law," Ryan, who represented Wisconsin in the House from 1999 until 2019, said in a statement. "This principle is not only fundamentally American but a central tenet of conservatism. Under our system, voters determine the president, and this self-governance cannot sustain itself if the whims of Congress replace the will of the people. I urge members to consider the precedent that it would set." 

Sen. Ted Cruz is leading an effort to reject the certification of President-elect Joe Biden's Electoral College victory, and about a dozen Republican senators have said publicly they plan to do the same. Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley has also said he plans to reject the certification, and approximately 140 members of the House of Representatives are also believed to be planning to reject the counting the Electoral College's vote, CNN reported.

The former House speaker also noted that the Department of Justice had also said it had not "seen fraud on a scale that could have effected a different outcome in the election," as the president has alleged.

Some Republicans like Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan have also spoken out against the effort. A group of 10 bipartisan senators, including Republican Sens. Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, and Mitt Romney of Utah, lawmakers to "move forward." 

"If states wish to reform their processes for future elections, that is their prerogative. But Joe Biden's victory is entirely legitimate," Ryan concluded.

While the lawmakers' objections will force a vote by the House and Senate, it is extremely unlikely to have any impact on the outcome of the election. Biden won 306 Electoral College votes compared to Trump's 232. A candidate must receive at least 270 votes to win the presidency.

- Газета получила аудиозапись часового телефонного разговора Трампа с государственным секретарем штата Джорджия Брэдом Раффенспергером, который состоялся в субботу. Сейчас, ближе к вечеру в воскресенье, обширные фрагменты этой аудиозаписи непрерывно повторяют по основным новостным каналам телевидения. Газета не сообщает, откуда у нее эта запись, но можно без боязни ошибиться предположить, что разговор был записан Раффенспергером и передан журналистам. Можно заранее сказать, что Брэд Раффенспергер, консервативный республиканец, сделав это, сослужил очень большую службу стране и миру, и войдет в историю как ее положительный герой и смелый человек, принципиально поставивший интересы страны выше сегодняшних интересов большинства своей партии.

- Итак, в субботу, 2 января, Трамп позвонил Раффенспергеру. При разговоре присутствовали и периодически участвовали в нем со стороны Трампа руководитель аппарата Белого Дома Марк Медоус и консервативный адвокат Клета Митчелл, работающая на республиканскую партию, но прежде не замеченная среди юристов, участвующих в попытках Трампа совершить государственный переворот. Со стороны госсекретаря Брэда Раффенспергера при разговоре присутствовал и временами участвовал в нем его главный юридический советник Райан Джермани.

- В ходе разговора Трамп требовал от госсекретаря Джорджии перемотреть итоги выборов в Джорджии, сфальсифицировать их и приписать ему достаточное число голосов для того, чтобы у него их стало больше, чем у Байдена.
 Джо Байден выиграл выборы в Джорджии с перевесом в 11,779 голосов. В штате трижды проводился пересчет всех поданных голосов, в том числе один раз был проведен полный пересчет всех бюллетеней вручную.

- Вот цитаты прямой речи Трампа, обращенной к Раффенспергеру в ходе субботнего разговора:

«Люди в Джорджии разгневаны, люди в стране разгневаны. И нет ничего плохого в том, чтобы сказать, знаете ли, что вы взяли и пересчитали. Так что смотрите. Все, что я хочу сделать, это вот что. - Трамп требовал от Раффенспергера выполнить его требования до вторника, когда в Джорджии состоится второй тур выборов в Сенат: «У вас приближаются большие выборы, и из-за того, что вы сделали с президентом - вы знаете, народ Джорджии знает, что это была афера. Из-за того, что вы сделали с президентом, многие люди не хотят голосовать, а многие республиканцы будут голосовать против, потому что для них ненавистно то, что вы сделали с президентом. Хорошо? Они это ненавидят. И они будут голосовать. Но вас будут уважать, действительно уважать, если это удастся уладить до выборов».

- Трамп повторял в ходе разговора множество конспирологических теорий о том, что техника производства компании Dominion Voting Systems (сканеры и принтеры, использовавшиеся для сканирования и печатания бюллетеней) была запрограммирована на то, чтобы приписать голоса Байдену, что компания уже после выборов поменяла «внутренние части в своих машинах». Трамп утверждал, что бюллетени, поданные за Байдена, «сканировались трижды» и обвинял в этом Раффенспергера.

На это Брэд Раффенспергер неизменно отвечал, что то, что говорит Трамп и то, что рассказывают ему, не соответствует действительности:
«Что ж, мистер президент, проблема в том, что у вас неверные данные».

- В ходе разговора большую часть времени говорил Трамп. Он был зол и нетерпим, называя Раффенспергера «ребенком» и «нечестным или некомпетентным» за то, что он не верит Трампу, что в Атланте широко распространены фальсификации бюллетеней. Трамп дважды назвал себя «тупицей» за то, что поддерживал в 2018 году на выборах губернатора Джорджии республиканца Кемпа, которого Трамп обвинил в неуважении за то, что он также не принимает его утверждения о фальсификациях. «Я не могу представить, что его когда-либо снова изберут, я скажу вам это прямо сейчас», - сказал Трамп о Кемпе.

- В любой демократической стране обнародование записи подобного разговора главы государства или правительства с ультимативными требованиями сфальсифицировать в свою пользу результаты выборов, с угрозами должностному лицу, ответственному за проведение выборов и подведение их результатов, вызвали бы немедленную отставку такого лидера. В любой стране. Только не в Америке времен Дональда Трампа, не в Америке образца 3 января 2021 года.

- Сообщается, что Трамп уже подал два судебных иска против Брэнда Раффенспергера, в федеральный и штатный суды, за то, что тот якобы незаконно записал их разговор. Эти иски, если они действительно поданы, говорят лишний раз о полной юридической безграмотности 45-го президента и его адвокатов. Законы и штата Джорджия, и Округа Колумбия, на территории которого находится Белый Дом, позволяют участнику телефонного разговора записывать его, не спрашивая согласия на это собеседника.
